Year 7

Pupils are introduced to new techniques and processes over the course of a nine week scheme of work. They will ultimately design and make a fabric cover to fit their school planner.

Skills learnt will be:-

  • Research and analysis
  • Writing a specification
  • Designing to meet the specification
  • Sewing machine skills :- threading, using safely etc
  • Practicing basic techniques ie. Seams and pockets
  • Make a quality product to match the design
  • Evaluating the final product

Each pupil will produce a folder of written work to support their practical outcome.

Year 8

Pupils are encouraged to build on skills and  techniques learnt in Y7 following a nine week scheme of work. They will ultimately design and make a drawstring bag.

Skills learnt will be:-

  • Research and analysis
  • Writing a specification
  • Designing to meet the specification
  • CAD & CAM to produce a unique piece of fabric
  • Practicing more advanced techniques ie. applique
  • Make a quality product to match the design
  • Evaluating the final product

Each pupil will produce a folder of written work to support their practical outcome.

Year 9

Pupils are introduced to new techniques and processes following a nine week scheme of work. They will ultimately design and make a quilted fabric container – suitable for a variety of uses

Skills learnt will be:-

  • Research and analysis
  • Writing a specification
  • Designing to meet the specification
  • Sewing machine skills :- threading, using safely etc
  • Practicing basic techniques ie. Seams and pockets
  • Make a quality product to match the design
  • Evaluating the final product
