Letter to Parents- Behaviour

Grey right

20th June 2016

To the Parent/Carer of Laisterdyke Leadership Academy student

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you are aware Laisterdyke Leadership Academy is now part of the Tauheedul Education Trust. We have very high expectations of all our learners, of their progress and of their behaviours. Unfortunately on Friday afternoon some of our Year 11 pupils chose to celebrate the end of their examinations in an inappropriate manner. As other pupils left for the end of the day some of them chose to get involved.

This kind of behaviour falls well below our expectations. The majority of our pupils were shocked by the behaviour and are disappointed in the image these pupils gave of our school to the community.

I know that you will support Tauheedul taking a tougher stance on the behaviour of pupils. With this in mind my Senior Leadership Team and myself will take responsibility for all detentions set from now until the end of term. If your child is given a detention you will be contacted directly. If there is a need to have further detentions then I will ask you as a parent to come into school to discuss your child's behaviour with myself.

Pupils at Laisterdyke are encouraged to make the right choices even when there are difficult circumstances. They are encouraged to take responsibility for their mistakes and the mistakes of others and we learn from these mistakes to continuously improve.

Kind regards

Colette Roberts

Tauheedul Designated Interim Principal

At Laisterdyke, we pride ourselves on knowing every student individually. Our excellent transition arrangements ensure that our young people engage fully in the life of the college from the very start of their time with us. We believe that regular meetings with our partner primaries help to promote the smooth progression of students as they continue their learning journey here at Laisterdyke.
