Letter to all parent - 16/12/15: End of term letter

16th December 2015

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had a very busy term during which our students have been working hard and have been successful.  As the term draws to an end I would like to take the opportunity to tell you about the arrangements for this last week.

On Wednesday 16th December, students had the opportunity to celebrate together as they enjoyed Christmas Dinner served in the dining rooms.  The meal included a traditional two-course meal from a choice of roast turkey, tandoori chicken breast or cheese and onion quiche.

On Friday 18th December the school will be supporting the Text Santa Charity which supports three charities: Save the Children, Macmillan Cancer and the Make a Wish Foundation.

Students may wear a Christmas jumper in return for a voluntary contribution; £1 is suggested but, naturally, should you feel it appropriate to donate more this would be gratefully received.

We hope you will be able to support our efforts to raise money for this very worthwhile cause.

School will close for the Christmas Holiday on Friday 18th December 2015 at 12:00 pm.

School will re-open on Monday 4th January 2016 at 8:20 am.

In January, Colette Roberts will take over as Interim Principal, working closely with Tauheedul Educational Trust.  I am sure that you will join me in wishing her much success in her new position.

I would like to say how much I have enjoyed working at Laisterdyke over the last few weeks and to thank students, staff and parents for the support they have offered me.  I wish all the students and staff much success in the future.

May I wish you all a peaceful and happy holiday and a very Happy New Year.

Yours faithfully

Janet Inglis B.E.M.

Interim Principal

Letter to all parent - 22.7.16: End of Year letter

22nd July 2016

Dear Parent / Carer

As the school academic year comes to a close, our minds and hearts are filled to the brim. It's been a great year! Special thanks to all of you who have contributed to the success of our school year. We could not keep our doors open without the generous support of time and talent from our parents. It has been an eventful and fulfilling year with the school converting to an Academy, we are proud to be members of the Tauheedul Education Trust.

May I take this opportunity to say it has been a privilege to be the Interim Principal for Laisterdyke Leadership Academy for the last two terms. The whole school community has welcomed the challenge for rapid school improvement posed by myself on behalf of Tauheedul Education Trust. Miss Lisa Corrigan will take over as the permanent Principal from September 2016. She is already working with the staff and pupils to ensure that the transition of leadership in the school is seamless. She is a very experienced school leader. I will continue to work at Laisterdyke in my substantive role as Academy Improvement Director.

As you know the academic year is coming to an end and the last day for pupils and staff will be Tuesday 26th July 2016.  I am writing to advise you that the different year groups of pupils will finish at staggered times throughout the day.

The pupils will have two lessons in the morning, a break and will then have tutor time and an end of year assembly. The pupils will be leaving at the following times:

Post 16: 10.30 am

Year 7 & 8: 11.00 am

Year 9: 11.30 am

Year 10: 12 noon

We would ask that where possible parents collect their children from the Academy at the above times and escort them home. If this is not possible, please advise them to come straight home. I appreciate and thank you in advance for this and for your support in this matter.

From all of us at Laisterdyke Leadership Academy we wish you a very restful and pleasant summer and look forward to seeing all pupils back in the Academy ready for the new academic year. The start times for pupils on Tuesday 6th September 2016 will be staggered as follows:

Year 7: 8.20 am - Enter through Year 7 doors

Year 8: 9.00 am - Enter via New Dining Hall

Year 9: 9.30 am - Enter via New Dining Hall

Year 10: 10.30 am - Enter via New Dining Hall

Year 11: 11.00 am - Enter via New Dining Hall

Post 16: 11.00 am - Enter via Post 16 door

Yours faithfully

Miss Roberts
