Year 11Revision Guide Core

12th February 2016

Dear Parents/Carers

We are heading towards the examination season, with the first exam being on Tuesday 3rd May 2016. As you are aware your child has recently undertaken a series of mock examinations and results will be available at our Information Event on Thursday 25th February 2016 3pm – 6pm.

Your child is now at the crucial part of their Year 11 studies and it is important that they begin to consider their options and the grades that will be needed. All children are now required by law to remain in full time study or training until the age of 18. We are looking to maximise the outcomes of all our students and request your support in this.

To support this process, we are holding an Information Event at the College on Thursday 25th February 2016. The pupils will receive their full set of mock results during lesson 5 in college
[1.45 p.m.].  From 3.00 p.m. onwards you and your child will have the opportunity to meet and discuss their future options. Subject teachers will be present and appointments can be made to discuss their mock results and targets.  Our Post 16 team will be present to advise on pathways from Year 11 to Year 12 and 13 at Laisterdyke.  Other training providers such as Bradford College, Shipley College, City Training, The University of Bradford, University of Huddersfield, Leeds Beckett and many more will be there to help with this important decision.

I will present at the event and will provide further information for you and your child.  I will be giving talks at 4.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. The college has prepared a bespoke revision booklet specifically designed for our Year 11 students. The booklet will be given out at these talks and it is strongly advised that you attend one of these.  The booklet will highlight what your child and you need to do to prepare for their upcoming examinations.

The evening will be a fantastic event and very informative for you and your child and we look forward to seeing you there.

Yours faithfully,

Miss Roberts
